Monday Night Football

Don't know about you, but I like Collinsworth in the booth a lot.  New stadium, crisp picture, and a very entertaining game.  Boy, Manning sure does have a cool head.  Cooler than Romo's who had three picks but that boy has some arm if he can find some discipline somewhere.  New York passed blocked supremely good when they had to and Dallas run blocked superbly.  They had over 250 yards on the ground in the second half if I got that right.  I know it killed ole Jerry Jones to have lost his first game in his new stadium (til he counts his receipts, that is).  Both teams got great talent.  Was really impressed with Manning (and his line) in the last series.   Dallas would have surely won, tho, if it weren't for those picks.  The game was a blast.

The Jets whupped the Pats and Chicago whupped the Steelers.  Arizona's Kurt Warner completed 20 of 22 in their win.  And the Titans, my least favorite team, lost (heh-heh 0 and 2).  The season is lookin up!

Agree with Jim, disagree with Max...I like Collinsworth.  He talks a little too much (that's the gig) but is usually quite relevant and doesn't go out of his way to be politically correct.  And his counterparts (Gruden, Jaws, etc.) mostly suck.  And my Browns are HORRIBLE!!  If Mangini is gonna be such a hardas$ and fine a player $1700 for taking a $3 water bottle then they better win!!

And yes, it was Sunday night football he was describing, assuming he's not in Indonesia or something.   :)

It was a great game and I loved the final outcome, but the Giants need to really start scoring TD's in the Red Zone and not just FG's.  With the number of turnovers that the Cowboys had, the game shouldn't have come down to the last seconds.

As for Collinsworth...I find him incredibly knowledgeable and insightful and his commentary is easy to understand and digest.  Yes, he can talk a little too much, but as Ted stated, that's the gig.

I will gladly take the Sunday night team of Collinsworth and Michaels over the Monday night team that ESPN uses.  That threesome makes me want to reach for the remote and hit mute!

George!! George!! George!!
What am I going to do about you? Don't listen to the commentators! Watch the game with the TV volume off! Turn on your music system. Have a cool one and listen to great music and WATCH the game!!
I been doing it this way for years. Works for me. aa

The issue of too much commentary is only getting worse.  Nearly every week now you can catch a game where they're chatting off topic or doing an interview while someone bust loose a 30 year plus play.  Last week the guy getting interviewed, stopped to say the ball just got intercepted and ran back for a TD.  It used to happen only rarely and then only if the outcome of the game was beyond doubt, now it starts in the 1st quarter.

But what do you expect when there is 24/7 sports news?

How about the unavoidable female on the sidelines providing us with empty, irrelevant human interest tidbits about how Rastus Carmichael is dealing with the accidental drive by shooting of his grandmother who raised him's second husband who was only in his second week of parole when he was gunned down trying to sell hubcaps so he could afford plane fare to take granny to see Rastus play against Buffalo in Madrid. Back to you, Al?

Wow, I didn't know what you guys meant.  Jaws, Tirico, and Gruden are beyond horrific  :o

I'd take Collinsworth any day.

I think the best way to discribe the Monday bunch is "the Three Stooges!"

Interesting game tomorrow.  I'll be at Disney, looking for a bar at the hotel.

RE:  Sunday Night Football.  The Cowboys are pathetic and that's from a fan.  Romo is still a chump.  Not to take anything away from Denver.  Very good defense by them.  And their fans are huge.

GB has no running game and did amazingly well without (except around the end zone as one would predict).

I am not a fan of either team but I could not help but pull for the Ol' Man!  A very good game!

Broncos are 6-0 and they are beginning to look like they might be for real. Winning in San Diego is huge! Their defense is bringing back memories of the Orange Crush days. Those vertical striped socks are just as ugly today as they were in 1960.

It's the coach.  Bringing in his own QB.  He has vision and he's got those guys playing like a squad.  Did I hear right?  He's 33 years old?  They ain't done.  Isn't Pittsburg on their schedule?  Man, I'm SO impressed.  The Chargers coach looked like an old man.  I'm tellin ya, it's that young energy got Denver so high.  Coach is 100% forward.
