« on: 17 Sep 2009, 08:48 pm »
I caught word that he passed away.. if so.. and this is not a rumor.. A true icon in the industry, a major innovator, and he will be missed world wide in the home audio world

thoughts and prayers go out to his family

Yes indeed a true loss. This topic was started in the Bryston circle, but this is a far more appropriate forum for this.  RIP.

Yes, sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I also thought it was odd that the Audio Advisor picked up the Thiel line of loudspeakers, tho the happenings may not have anything in common.

RIP, Jim.

Sad news.

Never heard his stuff, but know the name well. He's the tail end of the first group of giants. I was fortunate to have met Saul Marantz and Jon Dahlquist back in the early 70's.

Will be interesting to see what happens to the product line.

The audio world will miss Jim Thiel's vision and standards.  I enjoyed Thiel speakers in my system for over 20 years and always appreciated the high quality of his products.
