I didn't think this would happen for a long time.

I am selling my cherished Salk Veracity HT3's and Veracity HTC center.  Those who have heard the HT3s often say they perform well above their price point, competing with speakers that retail in the $10K to $15K price range. The only way these speakers would leave my house is if I could substantially upgrade; the speakers that replace them retail for 3X their price.  I think Zybar had a similar experience about two years ago http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=42900.0.

History and Background
These speakers were originally built in April 2006, and shown here and on the Salk website around that time.

I purchased the three speakers from the original owner in October, 2007 and I have driven the HT3s with a McCormack DNA-500 (amazing!) and recently with a pair of ModWright KWA-150's (really amazing!).  I use a Channel Island D200 to drive the HTC.  My room is 14' by 24' by 8'-15'.

For those AC'ers that have not spent time on the Salk Circle, the Salk website describes the HT3 as 'essentially ruler-flat from 34Hz to 25,000Hz, with an F3 of 29Hz and an F10 of 23Hz. It delivers crystal-clear transparency on the top end, extremely accurate midrange capable of resolving minute details in the source recording and, at the same time, delivers deep, musical bass...all with inaudible levels of distortion.  What's more, its imaging capabilities are difficult to put into words.'

From my experience, that is not an exaggeration.

The HTC does a great job handling dialogue and other center channel content.  It has never sounded boomy, hot, or tinny -- it provides nice weight to voices (that classic Salk midrange again) and blends well with the L/R HT3s.

Speaker Details
The two HT3 speakers for sale start with the Salk 'custom cabinet' and feature Cardas premium binding posts, deluxe brass spikes (original HT3 style), and grills.  The speakers also have upgraded veneers and hardwood baffles, optional contour switch, extra binding posts for tri-wiring, Sonicap upgrade, and Blackhole 5.

The HT3s and HTC sport matching burled walnut veneer.  The HT3s also feature Claro walnut front baffles. The baffles have a semi-gloss finish and the veneer a satin finish.

The veneer has a very striking grain pattern along with some nice figuring. And, of course, the Claro walnut had a nice colorful grain pattern as well.

The matching center channel features four ebony-like inserts in the four corners of the cabinet. These are actually coving magnets that were inserted after the fact so that the grills can be attached to the center channel without using grill stand-offs.

Note:  These pictures are original Salk images of the actual speakers.  I can send other images on request.

I would rate the speakers an 8 out of 10 on the Audiogon scale since I am the second owner and they were built in 2006.

I will also include six Mapleshade threaded thick carpet heavy feet ($282 retail, purchased in December 2008) that I use on carpet.  These are direct replacements for the Salk spikes.  They made a nice difference.

Price
I am listing these three speakers, HT3s and HTC, for $4,300 and would like to sell in the SoCal area because the original owner did not keep the shipping materials.  However, next weekend September 18th, I am traveling from Southern California to Sacramento, and I would be willing to take these along for delivery.  I guess that means somewhere between San Diego and Sacramento (most of California?).  I would also consider selling and shipping the HTC separately.  I will accept payment by Paypal (buyer add 3%), money order, or wire transfer.  I would also accept personal check, but it would have to clear before I deliver the speakers.

I have purchased items on Audiogon, AudioCircle, eBay, and AV123's forum.  I have only sold equipment on AV123, however I hope my buyer performance with those on this site will speak for my character.

As I said at the top of this ad, I did not expect these speakers to leave my home.  They make music wonderful to listen to.  Whether listening softly after the kids are asleep, or cranking it to life-like levels, these speakers always deliver detail and transparency, never sound compressed or congested, and simply leave me with a smile on my face every time I listen.  Add to that they are visually a work of art.  Finally lump in the Salk franchise itself -- both Jim Salk and Dennis Murphy are two classy guys who welcomed me into the fold, always answered my questions and provided support, and never made me feel like a second-class citizen for owning used speakers.  If you don't buy my speakers, you should order a set of HT3s from Salk, you won't be sorry.

I hope I don't regret selling these. :duh:

If you have questions regarding this ad, please contact me using the email icon near my user name, and not my Personal Message link.
Since I have IE as a browser, I am having problems responding to PMs.  If you sent me a PM, I am not ignoring you.  I'm just pulling out my hair, swearing at my computer, and hoping you send me the same message via email.  Thanks.
