Hi All,

I'm cleaning out the attic and it's time for some stuff to find new homes... I have a pair of Madison X21 21" woofers I used for a spell on open baffle. They're pretty nice, the AE OB15 I'm using now are better, but people have used these to good effect; search for Magnetar's projects over at diyAudio.

Fs is 28hz, Re=9.3ohms, Qes=1.36, Qms=9.65, Qts=1.19, Le=4.1mH. Sensitivity is ~90dB@1W/1M. Excellent condition besides some dust. Very well built; very heavy cast frames. I'd prefer the baffles went with them, but either way is fine.

The drivers are way, WAY too big to ship, so this will be for pick-up/ local delivery only -- vicinity of Phila., PA. Hence, the price is $0.00. But, and this isn't required only requested and I'm not looking for any form of verification, I'd appreciate it if the new owner made a contribution to a favorite charity of my wife and I: Animal Farm Foundation. If that's not something that floats your boat, no sweat, but I wanted to toss it out there.

Feel free to email me with additional questions if need be.

Regards,
John

Wow, great deal.   I'd drive down there but I'm afraid after building my bass bins, my wife would divorce me for bringing these home.

Would you consider donating them to our high school speaker building contest?  It would mean shipping them. We are tax exempt and could put them to good use.

I've been meaning to post words of encouragement in the thread at The Lab, Josh. Your speaker project really seems to be coming along well. Looking forward to hearing more about your continuing progress.

Hi Scott,

I have no way of shipping them safely; they're huge and very heavy. I was very lucky they arrived here unscathed when I bought them, and have no confidence they would make another trip intact. Sorry.

John

Thank you John,
I picked up the pair today.  Now  I can listen to the music with pumping bass at low volume level; i don't have to turn music as loud as before.  I have been listen to them for a few hours; and I really am happy with them. They are big and heavy than i thought; I will find someways to hide them later.
Thanks again.
Ps. i drive them with a Truepath D amp and an active crossover at 300 hz.

Most excellent, and you're more than welcome. I'm glad they've found someone who'll put them to use.

Fantastic. I love this site because of people like this!! :thumb: John!

BTW: nice job on the baffles....that's sort of what I have planned for my dual GR servo OB BABBS down the road.

(a BABB is a 'big ass Bob Baffle' which is sort of an inside joke from the GR/OB forum)

I'm curious to know why you didn't sell them instead?:)

Thanks. I've been the recipient of AudioCircle members' kindness -- hurdy_gurdyman was nice enough to send me some old-school field coil drivers he had around and Duke at Audiokinesis has given me some sage advice.

Believe me, those baffles are pretty sturdy, but pretty they're not. Those GR servo OB drivers look pretty nice, and would have to be excellent on BBAB.

You meant to say, "I'm curious to know why you didn't try to sell them instead?"

It was more important to me that they move out of my attic than I get some minimal amount for them. They're decent drivers and all, but it's not like I'm offering up my Fertin 20EX drivers. And the logistics of trying to securely pack and ship a pair of ~40lb. almost 2ft. wide drivers... And I'd rather help out a local AudioCircle member than getting no bids on eBay then posting them on freecycle.

John
