Receiver to go with 5.2 prisms

Thinking of getting 5.2's for my parents.  This will be a 2ch installation that will mostly just playback TV.  Perhaps a little CD.

The major concern here is value.  Used is fine.  I was thinking NAD?  I dont need anythng fancy here, not even HT decoding.

Any thoughts?  NAD has come to mind but I havent done any research yet for this type of application.  This seems to be the place to do it.

Thanks

Which 5.2's would you get? Solid Teak  8)  or veneer?

So you just need a 2 channel integrated amp?  If so, what price range?  Remote control needed?

Tyson, nice review on AA.

A remote would be a requirement.  These will never be in a 5.1 or 2.1 setup...........ever.  This is just for 2ch TV and perhaps a cdp down the road.

I'm looking for value here.  They dont need anything special.  If something from BB can do the job, all the better, I just dont want it to sound horrendus.  Pre-owned bang for the buck would prob be the best.

Hell, just about any Pioneer receiver from the last couple of years would be more than enough for that application. They're built pretty well, sound good, and are fairly easy to setup & use.

Was just at Costco today, and they had a really nice Pioneer VSX-D711 for $199.

I just scored an Integra 5.3...it sounds quite good to my ear, but it's got a lot of extra features you won't need.

You could keep with norh and try out an se9 or something?
good luck ; )

How about one of those Sony or Panasonic digital all-in-one receivers?  They would have the CD player built in, so no need to worry about a CDP down the road.  The 2-channel forum here has plenty written about both of them...

Good luck,
Beez

Thanks Beeze.  Eagerly read all about that receiver this afternoon.  Sounds like a winner!

The Panasonics are not all-in-ones.

The Sony are SACD/DVD/CD with digital amplification.
The Sharp is CD/MD with digital amplification (25wpc though)
The Panny is a receiver with digital amps that sounds great with a direct digital input.
