I haven't tried a lot, but those GE 7044 are what I like in my Dodd 120 monos.

I prefer them to the highly regarded Tung-Sol 5687.

I bought tubes from Rob recently.

Bump for excellent seller!  :thumb:

Having said that, I am interested on the Electro-Harmonix 6H30Pi Gold pins if no one wants it.

I've been debating these for my headphone amp. I hesitated because I've read that some people think these  are the same as the Sovteks that I currently own. If they're different I could definitely use them.

Having said that, Levi, you deserve them since you stepped up first.

Interesting, Mr Bluemike......

Haven't tried them.  Of all the ones I've tried, I like the Svetlana "winged C" logo el34.

I also tried EH el34 and JJ E34L.

Have you tried the Svets?

Awhile ago there was another Dodd 120 owner on here who preferred the wingies to some KT77 that he tried, but I don't remember exactly which ones.

I don't remember if the construction of the EHs are different (gold pins aside) from the Sovteks (I no longer have a pair of the latter to compare). The sound of the two are very different however, with the EHs being about halfway to the sound of the DRs. More dimensional and relaxed than the Sovteks, which are forward and harsh.

Levi, I'll put them aside for you for whenever we get together again.   :thumb:

yes i've tried the winged c logo great midrange but a bit bass light for my liking
The Gold Lions have it all midrange, bass, and are highly musical and the best of all last a long long time
The only downside is cost !

Rob,
can I buy one GE 7044?
My pre needs only one.

Thanks
Mike

Sure Mike, no problem. I actually have two sleeves and was planning to keep one, so I'll just take it out of the latter.

You are right.  The 6H30DR vs EH6H30Pi (gold) are completely different sounding.  The DRs are much better sounding.  However, the EH6H30Pi are not bad and great for everyday listening.

I will ping you later.

Thanks again! :thumb:

In my Rogue Cronus, the Svetlana EL34s sound pretty good (enough to make me buy the amp), the black base Tesla (not JJ) EL34s sound better, and the Gold Lion KT77s a bit better than both. Unfortunately I then tried the Black Treasure 6CA7s. Significantly more dimensional and harmonically full than all the others. And 2.5 times the price of the Gold Lions.    But they're now impossible for me to do without.

So, I'm adding the Teslas to the "for sale" list above. I may also decide to sell the Gold Lions at some point, but not just yet.
