These speakers were manufactured during the 1960's by Coral in Japan, and marketed in the U.S. under the brand name 'Calrad'. The model is CR-12AE .They are quite efficient and easy to drive, with an impedance of 8-Ohms, and a sensitivity of approximately 95dB. The cast aluminum baskets are very thick and rigidly constructed. The paper main and whizzer cones are obviously very high quality, and the surrounds are the durable rubberized cloth "accordion" type. Alnico magnets.
An excellent choice for open-baffle applications, as they were specifically designed for such applications. Good response from approximately 50Hz -15kHz. These speakers are quite full and lively sounding, and can "rock out" with only a 3-5 Watt tube amplifier. Rated power is 20-Watts.
This pair is in excellent to like-new condition, and play perfectly. There are absolutely no tears, cracks, splits or other damage to either of the speakers cones, surrounds, or whizzers. The baskets look almost brand-new with just a couple tiny surface scuffs on the paint which are hardly noticeable. Absolutely no corrosion or damage to the speakers ?they look great, and sound really nice. ***SOLD***
