The HP Model 333A is an easy to use, and extremely accurate harmonic distortion test meter. One can quickly measure the total-harmonic-distortion(THD)performance of any audio amplifier, preamplifier, or individual circuit stage from levels less than .01% to 100% THD.
The unit measures any fundamental frequency ranging from 5 Hz to 600 KHz , and harmonics up to 3 MHz are indicated. The HP-333A can also be used in ac voltmeter mode, for high accuracy RMS voltage readings from 10 micro-Volts to 300-Volts. This is really handy for determining the power output and/or gain of audio amplifiers.
This unit is in excellent functional and cosmetic condition. All of the switches and controls move smoothly and are in nice condition. The meter itself is clean, clear, and easy to read. The unit is set to operate on 120V U.S. Power, but can operate on 240V power with the flick of a rear-panel switch.
I have owned this unit since 2000, when I purchased it from the inventory of an electronics research lab which was going out of business. It has professional calibration stickers dated 1999, and has been very carefully used and stored ever since I have owned it. I recently obtained an HP-334A from a friend, which is essentially identical to the HP-333A except for the addition of a radio-frequency detector feature which is useful for some radio transmitter tests, and so I am keeping it and letting go my old trusty HP-333A to free up some space in my small work area.
