i need  some  ideas     for  good   ( not  expansive ) pre-amp

for  thoes  monoblock   maybe  quad  34   44   or some  other  tubes  pre-amp

any  ideas  or experience

not aspecifically  vintage  ineed  agood  matching (sound,range,etc)     i am  useing  that  ampl   with my  open baffle  (altec  605  duplex)

now  the  pre-amp   is my  stereo  receiver  (dual cr  5950 )  from  the  pre out

Not expensive means different things to different people.

my  ampl  is  quad  classic ll   

between  300$-400$  (does  its  work good with quad 44)

Did you think about the Quad tube preamp? I know somebody with two of them that he doesn't use anymore.
