These may be my favorite style of beer at the moment.  If you have not heard of them it is what I would call a "non-traditional" Belgian beer.  Basiclly its a tripple or maybe just a Belgian blonde with american hops added.  Its been a trendy style over there for awhile and I freakin love em.  Some of these from Belgium are:
Houblan Chouffee
XX Bitter
Hopit

I have now had two american offering of this style.  The first was the AWSOME Stone Verticle Epic Ale 08.  Which is great and dandy but its a limited one time deally.  Yesterday I found Great Divide Brewing Co Belgica which A) comes in six packs and B) is really good.

Happy Labor day

I'm jealous!  Eat some stoemp (stoomp) with bacon for me and lots of moules!

Food trivia: Belgian Stoemp is called Stamppot in the Netherlands. Many variations exist but the basic form is potatoes and some form of vegetable mashed together. Favorite combinations are with:
- Carrot and onion (called hutspot)
- raw endives cut thinly (more of a summerdish)
- Cale, together with baked, diced bacon
