logitech touch released
« on: 3 Sep 2009, 01:13 pm »
See it at Logitech/SlimDevices sites.

It does have full support for 24/96!

Steve - how do we find out what would be involved in setting one up to work with a Pace Car 1(with 2 clocks) or Pace Car 2?

Thanks

It's only been officially announced, not released.  December is what is being touted for release.  Although 24/96 support, it does not have the word clock input like the TP.

Steve has been using Cullen to do the Squeezebox mods to provide a bit clock input via SMA, so perhaps this new one could work the same way with the two clocks for 44.1 and 96khz.  Too bad there's no WC input ready made like the TP.

According to Amazon, it's available for order now, with a 2 day window for processing the order.

That's likely a mistake.  It's well documented that the software isn't quite ready yet (can use a slimmed down Server component and USB input; GUI is either different or nonexistent via HTML, etc.) and that they've slated December....but stranger things have happened I guess.  Already a few mistakes have shipped out and with limited to little success.

It has been verified that the Touch has both 44.1 and 96 clocks inside, so it can be used with the Pace-Car 2.  It will need mods to add slave-clock inputs. Once it is available, I'll generate this rework for Rick Cullen.

Hi-

Found a guy on the web who was a beta tester for the Touch and also took it apart to mod it. In response to a query from me, he responded:

the touch has two crystals, one which handles 44.1 and 88.2 and the
other handles 48 and 96.

There is no built in clock input, but you can fairly easily mod it to
take an external clock and feed it into the crystal inputs.

The frequencies are:
22.5792  MHz   for 44.1 and 88.2
24.576   MHz   for 48 and 96

This is identical to what I am doing for the Tascam US-144.

The problem will be room to work inside this box I think.
