stepping speaker down to line output?
« on: 1 Jan 2004, 10:18 am »
I'm laying out my future budget HT system, which will need to integrate with my 2-channel system.  Basically I have a problem that the cheap HT receiver doesn't have preouts for LR.

Are there standard cable/converter thingies that would allow me to take the LR speaker outputs of the HT receiver and run the signal as a line input into my 2-channel amp?  And where could I get my hands on one?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Yes.  Parts Express sells one, and so does Rat Shack.  I don't have the parts number handy but this topic was discussed here about 6 months back, so I'm sure a search would dig it up.

BTW, Carver used to make a product they called a "Z coupler" (Z for impedance)  to hook up their amps to a reciever.  You can sometimes still find them on Ebay.

Your best bet though is going to http://PartsExpress.com and looking there.

Thanks, Rob, I'll hunt them down.

That is, if I can ever get into the PE site!    For some reason it never loads on my computer at home.  Just sits there hanging!  PITA.  Maybe it'll work at my office.

Cheers,
