I am currently using Banana connectors on my speaker terminations. Are they any advantages at using spade connectors over  banana connectors

I voted for banana, but I will qualify that and say "BFA style banana".

On every amplifier and speaker I've had, they have made a beautiful tight-fitting connection.  And they are so easy to remove and replace.

The WBT locking banana may be good too, but I have no experience with them.  I've used several models of 'regular' banana plugs, and they have all been, more or less, wobbly.

Spades can work very well also, but they must be firmly tightened down at all times, and are more of a hassle to remove and replace.

Hi,

With any connection you are trying to eliminate air from that connection. Once air has access to the connection it will, at a molecular level, cause the connection to deteriorate over time and either rectify or start to behave like a diode.

So spades tend to allow you to tighten down the connection very tight and optimize surface contact and eliminate air. So I would recommend spades or EXPANDABLE banana connectors (like the Bryston units).  Also try and use similar metals. Gold to gold is best because it will not corrode in your lifetime.

Bananas are more practical for me in my setup on the amp end.  I suppose I could go banana on the amp end and spade at the speakers but I've been using bananas at both ends for 20 years with no signs of corrosion as viewed through my night time molecular goggles.  I hate it when I forget to take them off and start wondering around the house.  Seeing the house at a molecular level is very disorienting.  :?

Yep.  Gold to gold.  Silver to silver.  Copper to copper.

I've got those goggles too, and not a single corroded molecule in sight.

I'm using bare wire. It sounds good to me.
