Squeezebox problems
« on: 29 Aug 2009, 10:28 pm »
I have a sb3 I've modded. Today, I decided to swap-out the auricaps I had in the output for sonicaps. When I powered it on, there was no output. So, I took it back to my bench to double check everything. When I hooked it back up, the sb3 was dead; the display does not come on, and it's not communicating with squeezecenter. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any troubleshooting suggestions (or a full schematic)?

Check to make sure the daughter board is seated correctly. That board contains the main processor.

No full schematic was ever made available.

Great call! That fixed the power issue, but I still have no output. Everything looks good, and I've tried the standard software resets (xilinx and factory reset) to no avail.

If you can, take a picture of the area around the DAC chip and the output caps. PM it to me or post it. I'll help you as much as I can.

Wayne, thank you for your help, it's much appreciated. Vinnie at Red Wine did the original analog mods to this SB. I performed a few further mods, mostly to the digital output.

As an update, I checked continuity from the DAC chip to the cap and cap to RCA and everything is fine.
