Does this make sense?

93 dB of dynamic range is not enough in my book.  I'll take the 24-bit tracks.  Even the audio stacks on PC and Mac deal with 24-bit data better.  Less distortion added IME.

Changing 16-bit data to 24-bit with padding even sounds better IME.  Why do you think that Sonos went to the trouble of changing 16-bit 44.1 to 24-bit 44.1?  Sounds better.

SONOS went to 24-bit?  I might be mistaken, but I thought when I recently checked their website, the specs still say 16-bit.

What a load of rubbish! Obviously these people have zero experience with native 24 bit material converted to 16 bit...

I'm resurrecting this question regarding SONOS, NOT to stir up any trouble--trust me--but because I'm considering purchasing CD's from Chesky and HDTracks.com who provide hi-rez recordings that are 24-bit.  So....I posed the question (see below) directly to SONOS.  They responded that their system is 16-bit.  So, I'm not sure what all of this means, or perhaps I am not fully understanding this concept.  But I have a very practical reason for seeking clarification as those hi-rez discs are not cheap!  THANKS!
