According to videohelp.com, seems like it is easy to decode Oppo DVP's, but how about the BD-83? Please share your experience. I see they sell special devices on e-bay (made in Denmark, apparently) for this purpose, but I'd like to avoid opening it and installing extra parts.
Thanks

i was told by oppo there's no way to make the oppo blu-ray players region free without opening it up; they provide some cable with a microchip in it that needs switched out for overseas orders.  for all the ones we've sold overseas to clients i know they've had to be hard-modded.

Works perfectly.

hey just a quick follow-up on this. this firmware update has several reports of the older version not being dvd-a compatible, and the newer beta version has some bitstream issues. if dvd-a is not a priority for you, than the fix is ideal.  good luck.
