Piezo damped record weight.

Years ago I had a pair of skis (Solomon?) that claimed to have piezo damping.  Basically you had some LED lights on top of the skis and they glowed when the vibration on the skis activated the Piezo circuit (laminated inside the skis).  The vibration energy was supposed to be converted to electricity and discharged through the LED lights.  I think it was more a gimmick than real since LED's just don't use that much electricity.

It could, however, work on a turntable.  Check out the new Monza from Furutech.  Vibration energy is converted to heat and dissipated through the heat sink that is the record weight.  I think it could work.   I just don't want to pay the price to find out.  Is there anyone who wants to try and report back?
