Grabbing 2 channel sound off a DVD?
« on: 30 Dec 2003, 12:18 am »
Anyone know how to grab 2-channel sound off a DVD into a .wav?  I have this smoking Cure DVD, and I really really want to play it on the system. . .

Any way to do it?

Thanks!

You might be able to connect the S/PDIF to a soundcard and record the PCM track. Then use something like Cool Edit to convert it to 16/44.1 and burn it to a CD. This of course assumes the sound card can deal with the bit/sample rate of the PCM stream. Many DVD players will output 48kHz even with a 96kHz track, so most newer soundcards should work.

I haven't tried this, so take it with a hefty grain of salt. :)

I'm told you can rip all audio files from the video folder of dvd's... some disks have the audio and video files together for some reason...
If the file is in the audio folder, forget it or use a method such as Mgalusha advises.
