got my second pair of OB subs!

As some of you know, I gushed on about how happy I've been w/ just my single pair of GR OB subs in simple flat baffles (the BABBs), but they did tend to run out of gas at even moderate volumes. So a week or so ago, I ordered up another pair. Got 'em hooked up last night. Even w/ my temporary mini baffles on the new ones, things sound great now. There just nothing like this. Real punch, but great articulation and tone. Plus the fact that it doesn't rattle the room. OB bass (plus servo control) rules. And yes, it works with conventional monitors for the top end. Mine are the Merlin TSM-MMe. I'd love to try the Venue, but that's gotta wait 'till after pharmacy school.

I bought these on faith, based on comments on this forum. So thanks to everyone for steering me in the right direction.

Do I need a 2nd amp now? The rig keeps shutting down. It is seriously hot....I think I could cook up some fajitas on the fins of the amp. I thought the thing was designed to handle 2 x16 ohm speakers per side....or am I mistaken?

They can handle a maximum of 3 speakers per amp and preferably only 2 per amplifier, from some of the other posts from Rythmik and Danny I have read. So if you are running all 4 off one amp then that is the problem.

The amp will handle as many as three of the SW-12-16FR's with no problems.

I have been running a pair on each amp in my V-1's and they don't get hot at all.

So it sounds like you might be having a problem.

Well, I'm running all four drivers off one amp that has the dual wiring harness. I thought you could do this.

Oh no. You can't do that. That's why it is getting hot.

Oops. Guess I'll have to order another amp now. However, I think a combination amp/fajita grill could be a viable product!
