Isolating RFI problem

I have isolated an RFI problem I'm having to my DAC.  A guy called 'Tuckers' responded to my post in another thread  about Z sleeves and said:
Quote
The reason radio becomes audible in a system is something called the diode effect. This is where an unstable connection, solder joint, etc. creates a diode effect, hence transferring the radio frequency to audible range. If the Z sleeve is placed before the diode, it may suck out the rfi before it can be translated by the diode. If after, it won't make a difference, as it's not going to remove audible frequencies.

The DAC is a Museatex bitstream which has been modified by its original creator to be a 'Data II'.  He added some gold connectors, new caps, better circuitry, etc.  Under normal operating situations, I receive varying volume levels of a local radio station called 'Foxy 107'.  I have no tuner.  If I disconnect the DAC, and use the outputs of my transport/internal DAC, I get silence.

While the DAC and transport are operating, if I wiggle the digital cable, it loses the digital signal and regains it as I wiggle it.  So, I thought that might be the answer.... the loose connection...  I unplugged my DAC to open it and see if there was anything obviously loose.  However, it's not obvious by looking at it.

So, I plugged the DAC in and let it play without a cover... because I wanted to hear a particular CD with it... and lo and behold, no Foxy!  However, after it warmed up, Foxy came back.

Anyone know what that would point to?

Thanks,
Carl

Could it be a bad connection from the digital wire to the male rca @ the input,  (transport end), of your digital cable? Just theorizing here, but, if that was the case, it would make sense. Bad connection @ the output=resistance to the signal and thereby turning the rest of the cable into a decent antenna?

Yes it could be... and it is!  The digital cable is fairly new but, will be returned...  I just tried another older cable I had lying around and had no problem wiggling/obtaining/losing signal.   I don't hear any RFI but, it comes and goes so, time will tell.

Thanks for the suggestion.
