Rolled in some 7025's WOW!!!
« on: 24 Jul 2009, 02:01 am »
I rolled some Amperex 7025's into my Rogue Tempest II Magnum.I wasn't expecting to hear much of a change until they had some time on them.Man oh man, these things sounded great from the first note.I had some '65 RCA 12ax7's in the Tempest and they sounded really good, but nothing like the 7025's.Everything sounds more realistic especially the midrange.I think I have found the tube combination for my amp! Gold Lion KT-88,Sylvania JAN 6sn7wgta and the Amperex 7025's.Bonnie Raitt "Luck Of The Draw" is playing now and sounds superb.I just had to tell someone who would understand,no one I know is into tubes. Thanks for listening.

Yes, those are good, as well as the equally hard to find Mullard 7025s.  It took about a year to find them and I'm afraid to use them in my amp, for fear I'll never get another pair.

I will, as soon as I finish cooking the Mullard 12AX7s in use now.   :D

Be on the lookout for Mullard 10M series 12AX7A/ECC83's. Actually any of the 10M series are great sounding tubes. :thumb:

I have a pair of 10M 12AU7s, and have tried 10M 12AX7s.  The 7025s are quieter than the 10Ms in the phono section of my preamp.

I've never liked RCA 12AX7's.  RCA 7025, on the other hand, is quite another matter altogether.
