I'll be moving to a new house in about 8 weeks and won't have room for two sets of speakers, so one has to go. I'll be keeping a pair of Danny's OB-7's that I built and need to find a home for these AV-3's.
The are somewhat overbuilt, with a 1.5" thick front baffle and an extra 6" of height filled with about 25lbs of sand at the bottom, so they are very heavy. These were my first DIY audio project, which got me started on a slippery slope, so they are not perfect. There are a couple of small dings on the veneer and the crossovers aren't the prettiest, but they work just fine. They sound stellar and don't look half bad either. I just want to warn everybody that I'm no Christof or DayGlowOrange when it comes to carpentry.
They have the sonicap upgrade and are lined with no-rez.
The finish is ribbon mahogany veneer with tung oil and a wipable polyurethane on top.
Because of the size and weight of these local sale only in the Phoenix, Arizona area. I could deliver them in the metro area if needed.
I'll take cash for them or would consider a trade in full or part for any of the following:
solid state dac with USB input
up to date home theater receiver or pre/pro that handles the blue-ray formats
class D amplifier
solid state stereo pre-amplifier
I'm open to other possibilities, as I like to experiemnt with different gear, so long as it's a bunch smaller than a pair of floor-standing speakers.
I'd be open to a couple of "modifications" to the speaker if it would help facilitate a deal. If you don't like the extra height and weight of the sand filled bottom I could cut that off relatively easily and make a base plate for them. I could also spray a lacquer color and top coat in your choice of color on these, though I would charge an extra $50 for this basically to cover materials. I sprayed black lacquer with a satin clear coat over this veneer on another set of speakers and they looked great.
