I picked up a Asus eee1005HA netbook and have enabled remote desktop to link it (client) with my music PC (host).  My PC has 1.5 TB RAID5 installed in it which hold my music.  I am running foobar to play music out of USB into my Northstar DAC via Tascam US 144/Pacecar .  It plays both 16/44 and 24/96 files.  I have Eastern Electric buffer between the DAC and the Pace Car and I must say digital is sounding very good.  24/96 is very analoguesque.   :thumb:

I am writing thins on my netbook and I don't have to worry about messing up foobar function.  There is nothing elese running on the host PC.  This is a most excellent remote.

That's an interesting idea I hadn't thought of.

I have my music loaded on a WHS server that doesn't have a monitor. I use a Duet as the interface, but your idea is one I'll have to try.

Been doing this for a while now and I agree it works great.  I use a Dell Mini 9 which is fanless and has an SSD...so 0 noise from it, which is important.
