Title says it all - looking for a decent integrated amplifier for my Strata Mini speakers. Something to breathe life into them!

Thanks.

I saw on Agon that Underwood hifi had a Marantz PM15SG1 for 1250.00 new in box. A little more than what you had in mind but it would be nice.

Thanks for the tip - I will check it out. I was hoping for more along the lines of 500-750, but if it is really special then I can splurge.

The Marantz is a sweet amp for $1250 (New, 5yr warranty)

While not quite the elegance of the Marantz, here is a Dussun V8i @ $750
http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?intatran&1252644824&/Dussun-V8i-Integrated-Amp
This would drive almost anything with 250W @ 8ohm and 500W @ 4ohm / 120,000uF capacitance.  They say it runs in "Hyper Class A" (?) and is "low heat producing".  Oh yeah, it weighs 90lbs!

How do you guys feel about the Pioneer Elite unit? The SX-09J I believe?

I use the Virtue Two fed by SB3->Channel Islands VDA-2 with my Strata Minis. They make an outstanding combo.
GR Research is now selling them also:

The Marantz looks nice, but might be a little too many features for me. I only need 1 input for a small bedroom setup.

If you can swing the $1250, there's a Classe CAP 151 on agon.  There's also also a Bryson B60 there.

The Virtue I/II doesn't look too bad for the price. I might give one a shot!

HA HA HA!

They are currently in a decent sized room with an open back, but I might be moving here eventually and have no idea what room they will go into.

Hey, you are free to do that boss!  Gives me a little taste of reality.

How do you like that Trio 100 anyways? That could be found in my price range!

I love it, nice and warm. You would still need a preamp for it.

The Minis are 86db efficient and 8ohm - so I might need something a little more powerful than the Pioneer unit.

You could use one of these. They can be found for about 400-500.00 used and it was always a great combo with the Strat's. 2 inputs. Only downside no remote control

I've heard them (Minis) at a show with the larger SP9 I think it was or maybe the H34. They sounded very nice, but the lack of remote was a little bit of a bummer.

I am trying to find a nice C-100 on Audiogon now... your A100 has me searching HA HA HA!

How about the peachtree units - the decco or the nova.  You get an integrated plus DAC for not a lot of money.  I really enjoy my decco:  it's currently driving slightly more sensitive speakers.

You didn't say new or used, tube or SS....unless my reading comprehension has gotten even worse.

I really, REALLY like my YBA Integre DT.  Used ones are in the $800-950 range.  Superb, musical amp for the money.  Beautifully built and reliable.  And this is from someone that greatly prefers tube amps.  This is one nice amp with a lot of drive.  Don't worry about it's 50W rating, it'll do more than that.  I have one with remote (bought on Audiogon) and I highly recommend the remote option, even though it's very basic.

Drop me a PM if you have any further questions about the YBA.
