Bamboo HT3's and more...
« on: 18 Jul 2009, 03:01 pm »
Doug wanted a pair of Veracity HT3's done in bamboo.  We had never produced this model in bamboo before, so we were excited to have a chance.  They are finished natural.

Here are some pictures...

And a close-up...

Happy listening Doug!

This week, we also finished a "spec" pair of HT3's in burgundy dyed burled chestnut.

Here are some pictures of that pair...

And a close-up...

This pair is listed on the "Available for Immediate Delivery" circle at the top of the main Salk Sound page.

Oh - wow!  Those look great, Jim!

Are there any sonic differences between bamboo and MDF?

Wow...I love that bamboo finish!  My next upgrade (ST RT's?--HT-2 TL's??) will definitely be bamboo.

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:  Bamboo HT3s look great Jim.  Nice job on the miter...  looks absolutely seamless.  The plinths look great as well.  I love the end grain of the bamboo/ply.  Also very nice how the bull nose on the baffle exposes that end grain to create the thin darker stripe that frames the baffles.  :thumb:

I'm curious as well about any differences in sound, between the bamboo and MDF cabinets.  Though the question has been asked a few times, there has been no comment on any sonic differences.  My guess is that any differences would be very small, if at all, due to the well braced MDF cabinets that are the standard...   so, here is another question:

What is the weight difference, between the MDF and bamboo versions?

Nice job Jim.  They both look amazing.  It must be fun seeing the end result after putting in all of the effort!

Doug must be latin for Lucky Dog!  ; )

Thanks again Jim for doing such a fantastic job!  I'm so excited to be getting the HT3's.  Even my girlfriend was really excited about how they look (although I don't think it matters much to her how they sound).

Before I placed my order, I had showed her a number of pictures of HT3's to see the different finishes.  She had never made the comment that they looked like little coffins.  But when I showed her the unfinished pictures I took of them when I was there in May, she made the coffins comment.  So I was little disappointed.  Now I'm glad she is excited too.

And of course I'm really looking forward to hearing HT3's again.  Although I've certainly been enjoying my Songtowers in the meantime.
