tonearm geometry

Hi gents, I am building another empire around a new tonearm.
A pro-ject 10" 10cc evolution.
The mounting template asks for a centerline of 238mm for the 10" effective length arm.
When I lay out this CL and use 10" as the effective mass the arc of the 10" length does not cross the centerline of the platter at a right angle, if I draw a straight line out radially from the cl of the platter the arm arc will cross at the od of the record then it is about 3/8" past the same radial line.
I am assuming that their specs are correct so what am I missing?
I assumed the arc would cross the radial line at the nul points?
Thanks in advance for the edification.
Regards, Bill

here is a link to the tonearm specs pdf,

First, the specifications for the arm say to mount the base center 9.3700" (238mm) from the spindle center. So do that first. Then the overhang is .630 (16mm) added to the base center to spindle center is 10.000" (254mm). There is no specification for the offset angle.

The area where the tonearm intersects the platter is not the null point. It looks like your offset angle should be around 21.5 degrees. That will give you  2 null points at 2.555" (64.9mm) and 4.772" (121.2mm) from the spindle center. These will be the 2 points where your stylus will be perpendicular to a line drawn to the spindle center, or "the null points".

Do you have a CAD? I can send you a .dxf file. Need your e-mail address.

Picures don't seem to download yet. Can anybody post pictures out of the gallery yet?

Thanks Wayner, I'm going to make this plinth large enough for a 12" if the whim takes me.
The overhang dim was what I wasn't taking into account.
Measure twice, cut once.

Hi - you seem to have new images in your gallery - could you describe the specific issue you are having over in Notices and Support?
