TRUE BLOOD?

Although this is not a Movie, it is an HBO produced Series that can, if you are a bit "quirky" be incredibly entertaining.

It is from Alan Ball who also did "6 FEET UNDER", so that might give you a hint of the type of humor it is.

I laugh out loud at some of the dialogue.

OK, so it is about Vampyres, in a sleepy Louisiana town, but the way it is crafted and written it is pretty funny. (BUT it is not a slapstick affair)

In any event, if you are game for some "off beat" satirical spoofs under a serious "dark" drama, then you might find catching a few episodes to your liking.

Here is a peak at Season One

I agree.  I'm sure some will not get the whole thing and how deep much of the writing and satire go.

Just the main premise itself of Vampires suffering societal predjudice  and now "mainstreaming" due to the Japanese developing an alternative sustenance (TRUE BLOOD) is, in itself just a wild foundation to develop a series.

The second season has hit the ground running and I now anticipate each new episode (every Sunday night) and was dissapointed last night when for some reason they skipped a week.

If you didn't like 6 Feet Under, or Dexter, then the whole thing might be a waste of time, but if you like some quirky, and "strange, dark" satire, it is a good ride.

And the female form often sprinkled in can certainly add to the total package.

I just started watching the Season 1 DVD set and am 3 episodes in. My happy conclusion as early as now is.............

True Blood is the much needed antidote for the illness derived from being forced to watch Twilight with your significant other.

Actually you are right (IMO) the title song is very catchy (I Wanna Do Bad Things to You)

I even thought the sexy, "Jesus Ask Me Out Today" updated parody on the venerable "Jesus Loves Me" was hilarious with the tongue firmly planted in both cheeks.

And then the "singer" promoting that it will be in WallMart, KMart and Costco with the single already available on I-tunes, was just the kind of wacked out humor that is lying beneath the surface at all times in the writing.

I never miss it.  The creature that clawed up Sukie's back scared the crap out of me.  Something that even the fangers don't know about.

Because these movies portray humanity's worst traits and its potential for beauty and immortality in one package?

Maybe something simpler. Producers make sure vampires are HOT. Works for me!  Monica Belluci and semi-vamped Rider saved Bram Stoker's Dracula IMO not Copolla (my favorite Diector), Hopkins and Oldman (Two of my favorite actors).

Not too many hotties in True Blood. It's very funny though. It's the humor that makes this series very compelling to me. Jason, Tera and La fayette steal the show every time.

Yeah like when Sookie slaps ERIC the Vampire Sherriff and he says "maybe I'll grow on you" and she says "I'd rather have cancer",  or when the new young vampire is talking about being embarrased  and says "I could've just died" and then a look comes over her face, when she says "if I wasn't already dead".

While in print these sound trite and pedestrian, in context of the scene and through the actors they ROCK.

Jason when talking about reading the spiritual book INTO THE LIGHT is all excited and wrapped up in the messages and he says "you know after reading this it made me" . . . . . . .(pregnant pause as one would normally be expecting a revelatory experience to follow, and he continues with). . . ."THINK!!"

 :duh: :duh: :duh:

Which, if you know the charachter, IS a revelatory experience.

I am looking forward to Sunday Night.

Monica Belluci could make a compelling case.  I got one for you.  Anybody see Roger Vadim's "Blood and Roses" with his third wife Annette Von Stroyberg?

Well that isn't exactly stiff competition, but good for them.

Paul Blart?
Pink Panther 2?

pretty easy hurdle those.

Brilliant show - a tiny bit preachy (ie, the metaphors are a little to blatant), but otherwise it is that rarest of things in our culture - an intelligent, original show.

You know, i never really thought of it as intelligent.  But there sure is a lot of sex, violence, humour and vampires.  Even the wife likes it.  What could be better?   aa

If it had two episodes a week instead of just one.

The question is, did she shoot Jason with a paintball gun, or a real gun.

I think we all know the answer.
