Hello folksI was wandering if someone can tell me if the 14B comes with the 3db gain adjustment switch like the 4B does ?
I have a question about my 14B SST also please. Mine was built in very late 05. Mine does not have the 1V/2V sensitivity switch and it also does not have the line voltage status indicator light. It also has two(one on each input) selector switches for balanced or SE. The manual shows just one switch.?
So James, what's better -- a 14B-SST2 or a pair of 7B-SST2? (And how much does the pair pf 7Bs cost vs the 14B?)-- Ian.

The 7B being Mono allows you to place the amplifier very close to each speaker - always a good idea-- and the 7B has twice the capacitance in the power supply section over the 14B.Other than that they are identical.A pair of 7B's is about 5% more expensive.james

James,Would you mind explaining the same for a 4Bsst in bridge mode vs 7bsstThe original sst series if possibleand then sst2 if that changes things.I am trying to work out the best use of the amps I have, 6 x7bsst1 x14bsst3 x4bsstthank you.

Some just prefer to have a Stereo Package.2. We are talking about very small difference here in performance between a 14B and a pair of 7B's in most home setups.2. In a lot of Pro installs Rack-Space is at a premium so a 14B takes up much less rack space than a pair of 7B's.james

So a 4B bridged into 4ohms would actually 'see' 2ohms. Thus is a much harder load on the amp because the lower the impedance the more current it has to deliver. So if your speaker is 8 ohms then a bridged 4B would work just dandy but if the speaker is 4ohms I would recommend the 7B as it is designed to operate down into that lower range of impedances without issue.james
Hi werd,Not sure I understand the one less output transistor question james
