Well, it's certainly up to the photographer as to how much appears in the frame, but if I were to crop it, I would include a small amount of greenery and brick which, to me, makes it more textural, contrasting and interesting.

Oh yeah, well now it's a full-on CROP WAR!!! :duel:

The foliage and window lines help lead the way to the focal point of kitty eyeball.

I did a little Shadow\Highlight for enhanced Kitty Detail and a wee bit of green desat.

I see what you're getting at Nathan but I find the wood window trim boring and the drapes very distracting, pulling the eye away from the cat. Without the trim and drapes, I'd probably do it similar to your crop. YMMV!

But it's not just about the cat, it's about the cat within its domestic environment and the ennui it feels.  Your tight crop doesn't properly convey Mr. Paw Paw's existential angst in my opinion.

I saw his angst as - "If I wasn't hopelessly trapped inside behind this window, I'd tear you to shreds!"

That is one terribly cute kitty.  Most kittens have larger heads that are out of proportion to their bodies, but that is a well-proportioned furry squeeze toy.

I like this crop.  More kitty and just enough window, brick, and foliage to set the atmosphere and locale.

Of course there is option two---tight, tight crop with just the evil kitty eye.

These are our dogs through the years:

Stewie as a puppy:

Valerie when we first got her, 40lbs and suffered from a year of abuse:

Here she is a year later, much happier and about 100lbs:

I've got some great action shots of them and want to get some new pics since I picked up a 60D and have a much better understanding of photography:

And finally after a long day:

I took those with a Rebel Ti I believe...they came out great considering I was sitting on the deck and using a 200mm lens almost fully extended.

Their both 7 years old now and fantastic dogs.
