EL84's, otherwise known as 6BQ5's are a very special tube. Highly regarded, even more so than 300B's because they offer performance AND affordability. Our EL84 amp was designed for those who keen for the pleasures of listening to this special tube and wish to experience everything it has to offer. I believe an amplifier should be designed to pick up every positive trait of the tube it's being designed around. Without a doubt, we have done just that. 6BQ5's are a musical tube, capable of transferring great detail from recordings in a balanced, appealing format. There's nothing like relaxing after work to the sound of your favorite music being played through a system created to sooth and stimulate at the same time. Niteshade Audio wants you to get more involved with your music. That's our entire purpose in life! The amp is a tool to provide a means to an end: Enjoyment. This amp was designed as a shrine to the EL84. We chose Autumn Red Metallic, a color that visually tells a sonic story of a love for rich tonality, a desire for warmth, with a touch of romantic appeal. We have designed a unique circuit allowing pure Class A operation with all the virtues of single-ended operation and the robustness of push-pull combined. There is nothing else like our design, guaranteed. Our topology allows incredible resolution and detail through the use of a fast circuit that can follow the dynamic demands of a movie or complex song. It is possible to feel the difference. Tactile sensation is there! A generous 12 watts per channel, pure Class A will not let any details fall to the wayside. Our goal has always been to produce the best tube gear on the market. We believe quality sound has to be backed up with quality workmanship. Everything made is point to point wired. Circuit boards do not belong in quality tube gear. Every one of our amps and preamps are hand made. Tube amplification is a form of art and it should be since music is art as well.  We never, ever  make two Classic Series amplifiers alike. Our offering is unique, a grand tribute to the EL84.

It's difficult to beat the performance offered by a five tube push-pull system.  El84's never sounded so good! It's really incredible. I can assure you that my circuit provides the shortest signal path between source and speaker available.  The 1940's appearance of our circuit indicates a strong, streamlined design.  There is only ONE capacitor per channel in the signal path! 

The benefits of push-pull and single ended topologies together deliver music in Pure Class A operation with incredible clarity and depth, as well as a very wide sound-stage. 

A low tube count and parts count insure superior music delivery.

Other than this fine specimen of an El84 tube amplifier, what else can we do?

Power output ranges from 5 watts to 40 watts per channel depending on which design you choose.

Blair, I have always loved EL84s. Can you tell me how high quality the transformers are and if there are upgrades or an "all out" design?

Are you referring to a new amplifier or the one that's listed here?

There are several grades of amplifiers. My favorites always use parallel output tube configurations because they can adapt to speaker lodes very well and because it can distribute power demands much more efficiently than single tube designs. What I am referring to is single ended parallel and push pull parallel. 

Another one of my favorite upgrades is the use of dual tube rectifiers. Dual rectifiers provide double the current and sound great.

Next we have a 1940's based RLC filtering system based around letting the inductor(s) do most of the filtering and voltage regulation.

There are a few other upgrades as well that can be applied to custom systems.
