What's your budget? I love my Crystal Cable Digit cable, a gold/silver alloy wire w/ silver WBT NexGen RCA's, but it's not cheap at $1200.

The MAC Digital H cable is extremely good at a crazy-low price.

Otherwise, KCI Pegasus.  :thumb:

Have fun,

Assuming you are looking for a RCA terminated coax S/PDIF...

That is a nice cable, I got to listen to it before I cryo'd it for Robin.  If I wasn't able to have the one I do (at more than twice the price...doh!), I would probably use the CC.

Also, check out Steve's Bitmeister:

I never thought to ask you if you had tried this cable out while you had it and what you thought of it. :thumb:

Hey!

:o Definitely not cheap for sure... well at least to me, a poor audiophile.

Take care,

Big Red Machine,

A length of Belden 89259 and a pair of WBT RCAs.

I'd like to keep it under $200 if possible.  Have an Electrocompaniet ECD1 dac coming and expect to feed it with a stock SB for now.  Coax.

Also, why doesn't a standard interconnect work?

EDIT:

Digital audio cables (or, as they're often called, SPDIF cables) provide a handy way to route multi-channel audio from one device to another with minimal to no signal loss. The specs for a digital audio cable are the same as for a typical video cable: 75 ohm impedance, coaxial construction. A good impedance match, and wide bandwidth, help keep the digital square-wave signal from rounding off to a point where data loss occurs, so impedance consistency and wide bandwidth are important here, just as in video cabling.

The Belden 89259 can certainly work as a digital cable, but you should apply a second braided shield over it with a small cap at the connected end (only connect at the source end) to add with RFI and EMI shielding. This secondary shield should be considered for any DIY recipe, even the one linked to below.

The properties needed for a digital cable are different for those of an interconnect. The cable needs to be 75 ohm impediance, so not all coax will work.

Here's one well regarded recipe: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/etmcable.htm

Many people have said that using Belded 1506A instead of 1505A makes an improvement in this recipe.

Enjoy,
Bob

Unfortunately...Steve no longer mods the ECD-1.

I'm using a Ridge Street Audio digital cable with my modded ECD-1.

Karl of Empirical Design's digital cables (118 S/PDIF Digital & Video Cable) are reasonably priced and fantastic value! in my system, it easily sounded better than the Stereovox XV2.

I'd be interested to know what this has replaced in your system and/or what you've compared it with.  I am currently using a Stereovox $150 dig cable and wouldn't mind hearing about something better near the price to include the Bolder.  Btw, I'm a fan of your DA-1 speakers.  They were featured by John Z. at a Houston Audio Society meet not long ago with a Linn front end and some Manley/VTL power in a church abbey.  My albums shown brightly as did others.  Even a Black Sabbath album to my surprise.
