WARNING - BASIC (IDIOTIC) QUESTION
« on: 23 Jun 2009, 12:18 am »
Now that I got my disclaimer out of the way.

Can I use a 5V 10A AC/DC power adapter on a device that only calls for a 5V 1A adapter?

I would like to use an old Ipod Mini adapter with a new HD Flip camcorder that I am considering buying.  I would like to save the $25 bones for the extra adapter.

Thanks for reading!

Yes.

Just make sure the the +/- connections are the same on your new HD Flip camcorder.

Are you sure the iPod Mini adapter is 5vdc 10A?  That's a massive current capability for a device that small.

It's possible I misread the tiny lettering on the label.  Maybe it's 1.0A which would be the same as the Flip Camcorder rating.

Regarding the polarity, this adapter outputs via a usb connector so the the wiring should be standard. :o

Thanks for the replies!
