Subwoofer out w/o extra power supply?
« on: 22 Jun 2009, 02:01 am »
I'm running my Icon into a pair of 88-90db (so says the manufacturer) little speakers.  I'm also running a sub-out into a powered sub.

I've read that Nuforce 'recommends' using the extra power supply when running a sub out.  My volume needs are not extreme and this amp seems to have no trouble running my setup to satisfactory levels for me.

How strong is that 'recommendation' for the p.s. when using a sub?  Is there a possibility of damage to my amp without it?

Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

It won't damage the Icon.  If you play the Icon at loud volume, then we recommend using a power supply with more current.

The new power supply is a BIG improvement.

Now that I've had it I can't imagine having an Icon without it.

They should replace the stock one with this and raise the price a little.
