SOLD
A lightly used pair of Quad II Classics. I'm the original owner and, as I've had other amps simultaneously, I only used these occasionally over the past two years.
These are wonderful sounding amps (15 wpc with a high peak output) with higher efficiency speakers. The tube compliment consists of 2 KT66s, 2 EF86s and one 5AR4/GZ34 per mono-block and the output tubes are auto-biased.
The KT66s are the now stock Sovteks (5 matched pieces are included) with less than 200 hours on them. The EF86s are also stock with a few hundred hours of use. I will not include the stock Sovtek 5AR4/GZ34 rectifiers because they've been unreliable. Three blew in the time I've had the amps, taking out three power tubes. The amps were checked by the importer to be sure there weren't any other issues. Instead I'll include an ANOS pair of Japanese Mullard 5AR4/GZ34s with the sale. These have worked fine and also have the added advantage of sounding significantly better than the Sovteks.
There is a small scratch on the top of one transformer (see pic - the other "marks" are reflections), hence the (conservative) "7" rating. Although not in the pics (I left them off because they're a pain to put on and the amps - IMO - look better w/o them), the tube cages are included. If you want to use the cages, start with the screw nearest the rectifier: it makes it much easier to get them on, as I eventually learned. Original boxes and manual.
When I purchased them, the amps retailed for $2295. The price has since risen to $2795. Asking $1400., OBO, plus shipping/insurance from L.I., NY.
Prefer Postal M.Os. - No Paypal. I have an all positive rating of 330 on A'gon. under the same user name.
