OK, I need some help from you guys...

My daughter is getting married on June 27th and I've got to come up with the perfect song for the traditional Father Daughter Dance. So far I've narrowed my choices down to about 10 songs, one of which is the front runner by a fair piece.

There's tons of stuff that almost fits but there is usually one or two lyrics that would make it sound a bit perverted being played by a father. Most of the songs are love songs where a guy is singing about his girl but when it comes to lyrics about your daughter, its pretty slim pickins.

So, the front runner is (and don't laugh), Carol King - Child of Mine

Although you see the world different than me
Sometimes I can touch upon the wonders that you see
All the new colors and pictures you've designed
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Child of mine, child of mine
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

You don't need direction, you know which way to go
And I don't want to hold you back, I just want to watch you grow
You're the one who taught me you don't have to look behind
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Child of mine, child of mine
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Nobody's gonna kill your dreams
Or tell you how to live your life
There'll always be people to make it hard for a while
But you'll change their heads when they see you smile

The times you were born in may not have been the best
But you can make the times to come better than the rest
I know you will be honest if you can't always be kind
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Child of mine, child of mine,
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Child of mine, child of mine
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

So what I'm wondering is, are there any other really good songs that I'm not thinking of? Remember, the Father Daughter dance is a slow dance so I can't do the Guns and Roses version.

Congrats, Scott!!  :thumb:

Give a listen to "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. It's Country, but will challenge many to keep a dry eye.

Have fun,
Jerry

Hiya Chris,

Great song. Boy if I had more time I could have planned a whole routine with me and a few other guys playing the Stylistic backup singers. That would actually have been loads of fun.  :thumb:
