I'm not sure if or when this will happen, but I'd love to build a pair of LS4s.

The LS9 and 6 are just too big for my listening room.  I think the little brother of the group would be just right.

But I'm sure I'll have to keep on dreaming

Maybe it is just not big enough to pull of the line source magic.

I wonder if given a side by side choice people would go with something the the Venue instead?

Robert is correct. The length will be so short that it will limit listening height to the seated position.

I'd love a pair of Venues, but I'd need to have them at least 3' from the wall and to answer Eric, my 11x14x8 room isn't large enough.

This is the reason I couldn't sleep last night

But I understand they wont go into production.

I used a pair of mini-monitors as surrounds and never liked the results.  I could localize the sound if you were not dead centered it became irritating.

Maybe a better approach would be to use Danny's fantastic surround speakers which are specifically designed to disperse the sound field and have good off axis performance?

Just a thought, I can see how some LS4 would look totally cool as surrounds, but I just don't think they would sound better.  Kinda like needing a hammer but using a sledge hammer instead.

I agree with what you are saying however I'd like matching speakers/drivers all around as I'll have 3 LS9's up front. I'd prefer an onwall for the 4 surrounds with matching drivers.

Wow that must be amazing!

Sweet talk Danny into making an RS speaker using the Neo3.

You could definitely run open baffles less than that from the wall in a room your size with proper trapping behind them.

They also wouldn't load the room like the LS series line arrays. The volume of the ports of the LS line arrays really benefits from a room with more geometric volume. As far as ported speakers go, Danny is great at getting the porting just right that his speakers don't overload a decent sized room (with proper placement and room treatment ) and won't be bottom shy in a large room. I've run the LS-9's in 36000 cubic ft, with no loss of low end whatsoever.

The other aspect is, you won't get as much low end extension with that short a line of woofers, and would more than likely want to run a sub.

The Venue would win in out in your scenario again.

Cheers

I am obviously pretty weary on anything related to AV123 right now, so I don't know what to make of this... but:

LS-4 a BIG part of our future...

The LS-4 is going to ROCK... I'm excited about it...

I think I can safely say 56 inches on the LS-4...

Working the amp side with my teammates... no news at 11 (yet)...

Thanks - and all the best...

Just look at the responses in this thread.  Danny says "you would be limited in height to the seating position" and people imediately say that's OK with me because I listen to my speakers sitting down.

Not me. I like to listen to music when I am doing other things as well as walking around and going back and forth. So I am with Danny on this.
