Just installed it and it is certainly faster than the 3.x I was running. Coverflow tech for bookmark browsing is an interesting idea, but is perhaps a bit of overkill, and it's gotta be a memory hog loading all those preview images...

So far Safari4 sucks.........at least on my new imac. Its going in on Monday, some sites take 1-2 minutes to open, and each page one the site take another 1-2 minutes to open. Its the pits :banghead:

Actually, now that you mention it, it is kinda slow and clumsy on the rendering. I don't get anything like 1-2 minutes or anything like that, it's just a bit sluggish. I was thinking it was a network issue but now that I compare it to FireFox, it is clearly the browser. I've switched to using Safari because FireFox doesn't seem to support the "go back" gesture.... maybe I should actually look into and see if there's a way.

I'm not seeing any speed issues but - There is no PAGE RELOAD button available for the menu bar. That was a nice feature because it would reload and leave you on the page you reloaded not send you back to the root page. The one in the URL  area is not the same.
 ugh!   :duh:

I like the top-rated feature, but it's still a no-go for me with no bookmarks side-bar. I haven't noticed any speed issues.

It is faster for me. There is a button to show all bookmarks to the left of the show top sites button or below the back button, whichever description works better for you :D

So far I think its an improvement.

On a side note, have seen & played a little with 10.6 Build 10A380 and its also pretty slick.

When I first installed Safari 4, it was really slow and I hated it.  Now, for some reason it is running fast!  They must have done an update or something.  I'm simply loving it.   Beats Firefox easily and I love the convenance of just tapping on my goto websites.  A+ for Apple on this one.  It will be interesting how Chrome compares when Google gets done with the Apple version.  It definitely rocks on the PC, but I prefer Safari 4.

Dan, We have imac 2.92ghz 4GB ram running Snow leopard, and another 2.8ghz 4 GB ram with leopard. Both run safari4 but I dont see any difference between the OS's. I will let you know when I do something in Appeture, I know that when I installed  Snow Leopard, there were immediately updates available for Appeture,so it may be better with the new OS. Anyway, everything is running very smoothly, we are very glad we have dumped windows :thumb:
