I was at an event where we were playing some USB dac's  (I brought the new amazing PS Audio PWD)

A gentleman who brought his PC to play USB mentioned that  he did a shootout with his friend's macbook and

his own PC laptop, into the same USB DAC, and the PC sounded better.  I do know he was using the best software method

for getting audio out of the PC (bypassing K mixer, etc).  I should have asked him if they disabled the audio enhancer in  Itunes - which it would seem

logical for them to have done so as anyone serious about using Itunes into a high end rig would.

Is there anyone else who has tried this and can comment.  I would not expect there to be such an audible difference.

Seems to me that a setting was amiss somewhere...

The consensus over at the Empirical Audio circle is that PC's do sound better than MAC's. There are, of course, certain parameters to this regarding software and such.

I have also read that there is a software package called Amarra that really makes computer audio on MAC's sound superb. But it cost $1500.

Apple should just buy Amarra and plug the hole in CORE Audio.
