I just got to give a good listen to my refurbed philips 962sa..I only have to analog interconnects up to it now..but dang, it sounds great! All my regular cds sound as good as they do on my main system..kinda tubey but really clear. My first introduction to sacd is well recieved, I only have the two sample discs that came with the player and I went out and bought a ryan adams sacd as I thought the wife would dig it. I dont know about how it will perform in multi channel but I dont really care. I'm just stoked that it obviously has a decent DAC and it does dts for movies. I'm sure dvds will be better than what I had. I'm sure it gives the 963 a good battle. If anyone wants to check it out, check out this link:

for the price I dont know if it could be beat.

As you have probably discovered, theRyan Adams SACD is a weird kind of semi-multichannel deal...just mains and sides I think. I use an Outlaw Bass Management System to send my subs a feed front the mains...fleshes it out a bit.
