Received my Off Ramp 3 from Steve a couple of weeks ago. Plugged into my system & compared with my CD transport. Not quite there initially. After a week or so, the magic started to show. Listened the whole of last night & wow, I like.

Do yourself a favour & get one of these. it's worth it.

Hi Steve,

I never thought that the Big Ben is competing with the offramp 3 but that BB is another step to 'cleanse' the signal of jitter further.

I think I'll get to it in a couple of months (very very lazy nowadays  )

My generic usb cable is powered by a separate power supply. The 5V from the PC is not going to the offramp. I think this helps too. Does the offramp need the 5V from the PC ? If not, can remove the 5V power supply too.

No, the Off-Ramp 3 does not need the 5V from the PC, although the red LED will come on if it is not present.

The Big Ben may actually be adding jitter to the Off-Ramp 3.  I would go direct and sell the Big Ben.

I wanted to get a late model version up to see what it sounded like, as many of the recent UI tweaks need a late model version. It turns out the killer is that the foo SRC add-in hasn't changed since 2006 and is incompatible with the latest Foobars - game, set and match

The SRC that I provide with Foobar 0.8.3 is the oldest one, and the best sounding.  There were several newer versions, but these are all for 0.9.x.  I did not like the sound of any of them.  This is why I stayed with 0.8.3.

I have not had much time to compare the latest SRC.  I may be a good one.

The USB cable that I provide is equivalent to the Belkin Gold.  It's a good inexpensive cable.  The Polstar and Axis are significantly better IMO.

The ones you have supplied are the latest downloadable versions. There is a page on his site saying that donations have been minimal so he isn't going to put effort into windows development. But it also talks about building later foobar versions for commercial (ie paying) customers.

So I was wondering whether you have a commercial arrangement with SRC, and whether upated 8.3 SRC tech could be provided (obviously only if it is a sonic improvement) ?

He should update this page.  I sent him $1000 to license the version of SRC that I bundle with my products.  Last, he was only updating the 0.9.x version of SRC, which I didnt like.

It would be worth checking whether he could update his 0.8.3 version for you and your customers, given you are a paying customer - should be a simple compile at his end as the foobar SDK will be the same, all thats different is his own component

SRC = "Secret Rabbit Code" and it is the software based upsampler supplied with the Offramp
There is a version for Foobar 0.8.3, and a couple of others for 0.9.2.4
