Tyson/All,

Also on the minimalist, well regarded front, have you tried CPlay?

http://cplay.sourceforge.net/
http://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/t.mpl?f=pcaudio&m=31286

I'm currently not using it, or have had time to try it.

I haven't been on this board for years, and all speaker-based audio equipment has been in storage due to size (Cornwalls and break-your-back tube amps) after a home purchase that didn't allow for the space I had previously.  Until I sort out the smaller setup, in the meantime I'm almost done ripping my collection to FLAC (at just over 4000 albums now..), andany listening has been via a modified headphone DAC/Amp and a modified pair of Grado's, and still using Foobar2000 for playback.

The only reason I mention any of this is that the one thing I have changed, was switching to the USB ASIO driver from www.usb-audio.com (unfortunately not free) and at least to me, was a night and day change.

Hi,

I´m wondering that nobody uses Mediaportal with Reclock as audio renderer adding Wasapi. For me using my HTPC for media tasks it´s the Sh** !

I think the MP Appearence ( with an apropiate skin ) along with it´s features is unbeatable, it´s a great joy to explore your music collection just with the remote control and having all your other media aside. Even a optically full tweaked Foobar setup or the KM player appears just as amateur stuff in comparison, looking too computer like. I couldn´t hear any difference compared to KM Player + Wasapi, so i think MP isn´t a step backwards to a dedicated player application regariding sq as long as you don´t use a fully tweaked cMP² machine i guess :)

Once I found JRMC, everything else paled.

New features coming like Kernel Streaming (finally) and audio rendered for DirectShow filters so you can now use ASIO/WASAPI for video.

Dunno, JRMC lacks the easyness controlling it from my couch for me, just didn´t see any skin that convinced me. On my 37" TV and sitting 2.5m away the gui readability didn´t convinced me really. I only had a look on their HP and i don´t know if there are any userfriendlier skins availiable wich would make it living room compatible. A link would be nice indeed if there is any ;)

Hmmm, most skins like Noire look great in Negative (Skin Effects). You have to be careful about what mode your OS is in with increased DPI size if you are doing that. Have you checked their Theater View? You might like that. You can adjust everything; font sizes, tiles, etc.

I have a custom trackinfo screen which pulls from Last.FM that I customized for 1920x1080; I'll post a screenie and link (might be an image in my EMI/RFI thread).

I use RiverMote on my iPhone, or my Gyration remote with JRMC. PlugPlayer (DLNA) is buggy. I can't live without JRMC zones or library server (play 24/96 over WAN to work!).

Here are a few pics on their site; the new Theater Mode pulls background images from google search. I'll post a pic later.

I´m testing JRMC 14 on my Netbook, thx doctorcilantro the theater view looks quite nice, didn´t thought it would before testing ;)

Possibly i´ll split my htpc and use it only for video and built a dedictated mini itx pc for jrmc.

The only problem i have right now is that it seems that cue files for big .wav or .flac files are not supportet in thater mode, in the normal jrmc screen it works instead. In mediaportal i use file organization by folderstructure having my albums in genre and subgenre folder. Didn´t mess alot with taggin in the past. Do you know if it is possible to organize within jrmc by folder structure so that i can browse a genrefolder like "Jazz" and from there its subgenre folders like "cooljazz" or "jazzfunk" in theater mode ?

thx

Do you know there is a JRMC 15 now? You can add as many gendre folders as you like,,, I use 94 myself. There should be a Gendre section directly under Audio in the left column while in standard view.

Cheers,
