... used pair for sale in New York (Manhattan). The owner is having us build a line array so these are available for a great price. PM or email to rick@selahaudio.com if you're interested.

The real question is why is he selling the RC4's to get the line array

I assume because the lline array sounds better, so
does a line array always sound better than a point source,
does a line array sound better in a certain type of room,
with certain associated equipment, for certain types of music
or is it just a personal preference.

(Of course it could be because one type fits in with the decor better but that's not a real reason)

I contacted the owner and he suggested I post an answer for him. He's moving into a larger space which will allow him to use a line array. His current Manhattan apartment dictated a smaller speaker. As far as difference in sound he wanted to go with something on the cutting edge. He's happy with the RC4's and because of that decided to have me design a new speaker that will be the most elaborate array that we've ever built.

Now that is interesting .. Can you give us some hints on what this array is going to be like?

Dipole arrays with monopole bass units. Scan-Speak, Seas, and RAAL drivers. All actively-driven with DSP crossovers.

That sounds like it will be a very good speaker.

Does the economy of scale reduce the price if you make two at the same time?

It depends on what materials are implemented and the associated setup time for fabrication. We are looking at some alternative materials beyond what we normally use.

Greetings and salutations to the entire audio circle community. Long time lurker, first time poster.  First off I want to say that I have enjoyed this board and have only had positive experience dealing with its members, so thank you all  :thumb: :thumb:. The RC4?s for sale are my speakers. As Rick has mentioned I am moving in to a new apt which is much larger then my current place. Also, it was my 40th b-day a few weeks ago and I decided to get myself a little gift. The RC4?s are great speakers! The best I have owned and as with many of you I own and have owned a fair share of different speakers. The speakers sound great. They throw a huge sound stage, image beautiful and boy can they play low and tight. The only reason I?m selling them is because I don?t have the room to keep them; and as with most of you I had the urge to try something new .. ?Does an array sound better, I don?t know. I can tell you that the RC4?s sound dam good and will be missed???Now on to the new speakers? The first key is to have a great wife that lets you do what ever you want. I also named the speakers after her so she couldn?t refuse me  8). So the speakers are called the Julietta?s .  Secretly I call them the Messiah?s because I?ll be worshiping them  aa?I chose Rick to build the new speakers because I had a great experience the first time around. Rick is a straight shooter and honest as the day is long  :thumb:. Not to mention the quality of work is stellar. My directive was to build something totally over the top. I said build me a ?Rick? statement speaker and this new array is what he came up with. I?m planning a new system around this speaker so any suggestions are appreciated?

PS: Support small business, it?s the back bone of our country?

Current System:
Selah RC4
Dodd Battery Pre-amp
Odyssey Mono glass ceiling
EAD Cd-DVDA player highly modified by Asi-tek.com
Audio-Consulting cotton over silver speaker wire and inter connects
Current speaker grave yard:
Silverline 17.5 and Preludes
Vmps 626r
And a few other I don?t care to mention??
These are all for sale also along with a few other amps and pre- amps if there?s any interest.

You will have to ask Rick That. I can tell you that if you were to buy something from one of the big boys that was even close to this it would cost you 10x the amount. Its hard to beat Selah's value :thumb:

Something a little different but the DEQX would be perfect to drive it. I'll be using my DEQX to program for it as well.
