Well, due to the 8thNerve seconds sale, I took the plunge on acoustical treatments (4 corners, 8 seems). . .

I know my room is my weakest link, especially b/c the only good spot I can find is extreme nearfield w/ me only 2' in front of the speaker plane w/ the speakers about 6 1/2' apart (w/ the speakers pointed at me). . .
Hopefully, these treatments will make a difference. . .I want to be able to sit farther away w/o losing detail and gaining depth.  I'll post my impressions next week if I have time to do some decent listening.

Can you describe your room?  size, etc...?  for example here's  my situation....

I have an 11x12' room with a 2' deep bay window.  I sit facing the bay window.    I moved from a very large room to a very small one and have found that I have a lot more control than I would've in the larger room.  I too, ordered 8th nerve's stuff... but, I added some home-made products based on 8th's philosophies already and that really helped.  If you have a big problem, you may have to do a big solution.

I have home-made seams running almost the entire length of each corner of the room.  That made the sound a lot less congested.  Adding a rug got rid of some room reflections as well.  I bought a floorstander to put in a doorway and some corners to finish the room.  I feel like this will be a huge improvement.  The room already sounds 'cozy'.  It's not dead or overly lively.  New curtains should help a little high frequency glare I'm getting of my bay window.

I'm doing all this now because I am waiting on equipment to arrive.  I have 2 preamps, a pair of speakers, and new speaker wire all on their way.  Hopefully it'll all get here soon so I can start the break-in/burn-in process.  By the time it's all together, the room and system should integrate perfectly.

Best of luck!

Well, right now my room is a clustered 14' x 14 1/2' bedroom w/ hardwood floors.  I am going to see what they do for now. . .however, I will be moving out in the next few months and should have a much better room.

My biggest problem is the fact that I have to sit so close to get good sound. . .as a result, I lose depth. . .Hopefully this will change things a bit.

The price on these pushed me over the edge and I will post my impressions of what they can do in this room next week. . .

So you ordered the Maestro?  Or is this a different wire?

I'm replacing the biwire Conductor speaker wire with Maestro.  I had a good chat with Richard at Audience.

I'll have 2 'shootout's fairly soon (mid and late Jan) in my newly treated room.  A new thread will be created for this.

The FAQ page on my website has some tips on room placement and where to put absorbing materials.
