Icon RJ45 cable help???
« on: 13 May 2009, 09:50 pm »
Sorry for the basic question.  I am sure this info must be obvious but I can not figure it out.

I just bought an Icon amp and have the RJ45-banana plug speaker wires.
The banana's are blue and red but I can not figure out which one is + or -.

I want to make sure I am not hooking my speakers up out of phase.

Right now I have the red banana going to my positive speaker terminals.

My apologies again for the basic question but I have not been able to find this info thru the various Icon threads here.

was actually wondering this myself. i have it set up the same way as you, but since the manual does not state which is pos/neg, and the cables themselves are sort of ambiguous, I wanted to be sure. Anyone?

As long as both speakers are wired the same, they will be in phase.  The audio signal is an alternating type, so exact polarity does not matter, just that they are wired the same to the speakers, so that each speakers drivers would be moving in the same direction at the same time.

That being said, I would have hooked them up myself the same way!  You were expecting red/black but instead you have red/blue.  Red is red.  Blue is black.
