Aurasound NS6 - bargain OB mid?
« on: 13 May 2009, 03:42 am »
I just ran into these on Madisound - http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=121&products_id=8406

Reasonable 91dB sensitivity, Qts of 0.55, wide flattish response, distortion seems ok if not stellar - ?

The magnet looks very small. I would not risk it eventhough the price looks cheap.

It's a neo motor - that's why it looks so small.

Looks like a good idea.

Hi,

the foam surround is a "no go" for me, there are way better "classic" drivers with fabric or paper surrounds out there that offer more material stability(in the sunlight) for the price.

Can you give examples?

Um, anyway, so I was posting this as more of a heads up, thought some might be interested. Having said that, Bob now has me dreaming of 5.1 dipoles, so... :D

These days treated foam surrounds should be good for 30+ years - who wouldn't be happy with a speaker that lasted them 30 years?

Most DIY guys change speakers at least a few times a decade, no?
