R30M with Subs

I have been wondering about integrating my RM30M sidefiring woofers with my subs and I started thinking that I could simply connect the bass section of my RM30M in parallel with my subwoofers. As best I can figure my subs are 8ohm each and I believe the bass section of the RM30M is 4 ohm which would put about a 3 ohm or so load on my sub amp which should be ok and the sensitivities may vary but I could add a level control. The advantage would be I could equalize  them together for room nodes and take that load of my main amp

Any flaws with this idea?

Another thought is what about inverting the polarity to get a push pull effect like Brian did with the double VSS and CES?

My guess is that your sub woofers and your RM30 woofers would have different efficiency and it could be difficult to balance the output so that you have reasonably flat response.  Where would you insert a level control so that it fed different levels to the sub and the RM30 woofers?  This could be tricky at best.

Hi Tom,

Been in NYC all last week, and got back just in time for the "outage", so couldn't respond to this, but:

I'm not sure how it would work since the "side firing" woofer is "blended" with the 6.5"ers in a way Brian uses that includes using a drivers natural roll off.

Also the X-over point is in the 280hz range and for most subs that is "no-no" land, and it causes blending problems.

I suppose you could giver a try and see what it sounds like, but I think you would find a move conventional approach more satisfying (for music)
