Blackgate N series replacement suggestions?
« on: 6 May 2009, 06:31 pm »
I bet this has been discussed this to death... but I've been stumbling around with google...

I'm looking for two 4.7uF and 10uF 50V N series Blackgates for some mods to a SB3 (I'm also late to the SB3 mods...
wanting to simplify my set up and stop using an external DAC so looking to do the analog mods now).

Would anyone happen to have any they'd be willing to part with/sell? This would be the ideal scenario. :-)

If not... any suggestions for alternatives? I need something small and this will be in the signal path...
Nichicon Muse ES? Elna Slimic II? Something else?

Thanks!

Dave

Muse and Silmic are the best electrolytic alternatives.  I think more people prefer the Muse, although I lean towards the Silmic.  Not much else better will fit inside the enclosure, unfortunately.  There's a Wima 10uf MKS2-XL polyester (http://www.tech-diy.com/Store/PowerSupplyStuff.htm) that might fit.  I've never used it so I can't add any input on it, but some people seem to like it.
