Yep, I bought some vinyl from Best Buy not that long ago (The new U2 album....hey, we can call them albums again). Since they are sticking their neck out (of sorts), I thought I'd support them in hopes of getting a larger selection in the stores. The pricing was pretty much market value. They only have about eight or ten releases in the St Louis stores. Mostly stuff I'm not interested in but I thought I'd give the U2 release album a try for shits and giggles.

I think most of the people that will buy vinyl in Best Buy won't actually listen to it, they'll buy it as a special or collector's edition.

The day Metallica's Death Magnetic was released, I picked it up at my local Best Buy about 2 hours after they opened.  I grabbed the last vinyl copy they had.  An employee said they got about 100 or so copies.  I actually haven't gotten around to spinning my vinyl copy yet.  Maybe tomorrow.  Hopefully it isn't compressed to death like the CD is.

You may have a point...By the time I bought AC Newman's new CD, along with three copies of the vinyl (two for my daughters and one for me), loaded it into iTunes so they could listen on their iPods, loaded it into my car's CD player, and went to see him in Chicago and Pontiac...well, my vinyl is still sealed! :icon_lol:

Being newbies, they make pricing mistakes fairly commonly. I picked up Nine Inch Nails last LP for $13.99 and the Radiohead box set for $50. Now that they are taking vinyl more seriously, I imagine my days are numbered for cheap vinyl!

One of my pet peeves involves albums that are so long on CD that they have to occupy TWO vinyl discs. Better back to the days of 35 minute records with fewer but better songs! Would definitely cut down on the cost of vinyl...
