I did not see this posted anywhere so I thought I would. I received an email 4/24 announcing the clearance sales.  The fine print says--not including the stores listed below.  Not valid on new releases, best sellers, and audiobooks. IN STORES ONLY. No rainchecks, special order, or reservations. Cannot be combined with any other offer.

This offer does not seem to require a coupon.

Looks like Borders is folding the CD/DVD tent as predicted.

*CD and DVD clearance not valid at the following Borders stores. Arizona: Tucson (E. Broadway); California: Mira Loma; San Diego (Mission Valley); San Francisco (Stonestown); San Francisco (Union Square); San Rafael; Sand City; Connecticut: Stamford; Delaware: Newark; Florida: Miami (S. Dixie Hwy.); Hawaii: Honolulu; Maui; Kentucky: Louisville (Gardiner Lane); Illinois: Chicago (Michigan Ave.); Chicago (State St.); Oak Brook; Maine: South Portland; Maryland: Annapolis; Massachusetts: Boston (School St.); Michigan: Beverly Hills; Nevada: Las Vegas (S. I've visitied 4 Borders stores since this sale began.  All of the stores I visited were clearly moving old stock that had been on the shelves for awhile.  I managed to spend over $100, but the pickings were slimmer than I would have liked.

Yeah, the downtown NYC Borders has slim pickings. And they're really not much of a deal (50% off of the $18.99 full boat price) since you can generally find the same or better buying used off of Amazon.

Clarification--- I just visited my local store and the sale is on selected items only.  I guess that is what they meant by "selection varies by store" and "excludes new releases".  They have a strange definition of "new".

I checked it out at a couple of stores around us.  Not much exciting in the discounted section, but that's largely because the overall selection is fairly poor.  The Borders stores have been slowly reducing the in-store selection of CDs for the past couple of years and I expect that they will eventually stop carrying anything except a token selection of new releases.

At one of the local Borders they have been beta testing a download area to determine if it is worth upgrading the stores and illiminating cds altogether.  Borders is in financial trouble and may, at the end of 2009, end up going down the same path as Circuit City did.  It's sad because it is THE last B&M that has folks who know something about the music they get in every week.
