I assumed by 'new name' Frank meant getting away from the number 70 (?). Now to think of a name..

70 is significant in the name as it represents the amplifier’s approximate total output in watts (35x2).  However, since the true output for the Ultimate 70 is around 66 total watts, in theory the 70 can be replaced with 66.

The U70 is still in proto-type stage. I believe there maybe some minor changes and I have no idea what product labeling will look like (AVA Logo, etc). There are also some minor bugs to work out.

AVA DynaClassic 70

-Roy

p.s. ... I'm setting aside a space on my rack for an Insight+ DAC

pps.

I'd like to register another name :).
Since this, I suppose, is a fully tweaked (if that is possible) Dynaco 70 maybe this name would be more accurate. AVA DynaClassic Extreme

Elegance 70.

That describes the design, sound and appearance.

Disclosure:  I rode shotgun for Frank and helped at the show.

I love these "name the product" threads.

I'm suggesting:  Sentient 70

I've got another one:

Stellar 70

Stellar as in outstanding, preeminent, or brilliant.

There's really nothing wrong with the Ultimate 70. But if you want to denote your changes how about the Ultimate 70i or the Van Alstine 70  :thumb:  :thankyou:

Has anything been decided on the name for the new tube amp?

The XXX 70.

"UltraValve"  I kind of like that.  For those not up to date with how the furreniers in Yurp, especially Britland, have messed with our good old USA language, the word "tube" here at home is translated to "valve" in Whaleish or whatever.  So instead of having to replace tubes all the time, they replace valves.  I kind of wonder what happens to one of their cars when it needs a tube job though.

Anyway, David, remember that name, it might be a winner,

Regards,

Frank

"Thermionic valve" is a far more descriptive and logical name for these devices than is "vacuum tube."

Besides that, you can't make fun of all the toob luvers in England because they're valve fanciers instead. :)

Although I suppose you could point out that valves are best used on commodes...

"UltraValve"  I kind of like that.

It ties in with the Ultra series, and also in a way to the older FETValve series.

UltimateValve would tie in to the current tube amps, but it's more awkward IMO.

UltraValve 80, since it will have 40 watts per channel.

"Ultravalve" it is guys. Mr. Boycephoto wins.

Now what do you win?  What would you like to win?  How about a free Insight upgrade to your OmegaStar EC preamp?  That would make a nice match for your pair of U70 amplifiers since it has the inverter board built in.

Let me know.

Best regards,

Frank Van Alstine

Sounds like just the ticket to me. Dave, you will really like the Insight upgrade. :)

Congratulations, Dave!

Great name for a great amp.

I see an UltraValve in my future.
